Emails from The Clay Hole

Pick the emails you actually want.

Three lists, three completely different jobs. Take one, take all three, or leave any of them the moment they stop being useful. Nothing here is bundled together behind your back.

An illustrated potter in a clay-covered apron sits on a wooden stool, grinning at the glowing phone in his hands.

List one

The new member emails

Starts when you join Your first day onward Real instructions

Best for brand new members. This is the sequence that starts the moment you join, and it is the reason our new members walk in on day one already knowing how the place works.

It is not a sales pitch. It is everything we would otherwise have to tell you standing in the middle of the studio, spread out so each piece lands about when you need it. It starts with your first day and the required watching, then keeps going into the genuinely useful stuff.

  • What to do before your first day, and what to bring
  • The orientation video, which is required watching
  • How class nights, start days and rollover really work
  • Wedging, drying and the five stages of clay
  • Glazes, underglazes and how firing and pickup work
  • Which tools are worth owning, and which ones are not

Plenty of people who have thrown pots for years still tell us they learned something from these. It is written so it works whether this is your first time touching clay or your thousandth.

List two

Clay Hole announcements

Only when it matters No fluff

Best for current members, and anyone who would rather not find out from a locked door.

The things you would be annoyed to have missed. This is the list we use when something changes, closes, opens or starts, and it is the fastest way to hear it.

  • Holiday and weather closures
  • The kiln deadline that comes before a closure
  • Contests, parties and free weeks
  • Changes to memberships or to the studio

We send one when there is something real to say, and not before. Most months that is a handful of emails at most.

List three

A daily affirmation card

One card Every morning Members and everybody else

Best for anyone at all. You do not have to be a member, or live anywhere near Utah.

This one is simple. Every single morning, one of our affirmation cards shows up in your inbox. That is the whole thing. No app, no login, nothing to keep up with.

They are the same cards that sit face down at every seat in every class here, which is how the studio starts each night.

  • One card in your inbox every morning
  • The same cards that wait at our real tables
  • Nothing to buy and nothing to do

We ask what state you live in for one honest reason. The Clay Hole is going to open in more cities someday, and the people on this list hear about it first when we get close to them.

The card page is a different thing. Over there you draw your own card, build a collection and send one to somebody who needs it. Subscribing here does not give you that, and going there does not sign you up for this. Do both.

The fine print, in plain words

Three promises about your email address.

We do not sell it

Not to anyone, for anything. It stays with us and it gets used for the list you picked.

Unsubscribe actually works

Every email has the link at the bottom. One click and you are off, with no hard feelings and no exit survey.

The lists stay separate

Leaving one does not take you off the others, and joining one does not quietly sign you up for the rest.

Questions about any of this, or want off a list and cannot find the link? Text the studio at 385-241-5528 and a real person will sort it out.
