The people who fill this place.

Every piece on this page was made by a member, on our shelves, in our kilns. Each of them has their own page: how clay found them, what they build, the disaster they still tell people about, and photographs of the work.

Member spotlights are brand new. Four so far, and each one takes a photo session and a long list of questions, so they arrive slowly. More are being built right now, so there will be more here than there are today.

How somebody ends up here.

These are invitations. Nobody applies, and nobody pays for a spot.

1The studio asksSomebody on staff notices what keeps coming out of the kilns under one name, and asks that member whether they want a page.
2We photograph the workA session at the studio: the member, and whatever pieces they choose to bring in that day.
3They answer the questionsTen questions, answered in their own words. We fix a tangled sentence and nothing else. The page gets built around what they wrote.

Three things that all have to line up, which is why the number is four and not forty.

All of it came off our shelves.

The studio supplies the wheels, the slab rollers, the glazes and the firings. The members supply the ideas and the hours. What comes out of the kiln belongs to them, and so does whatever they sell it for.

One of the four teaches here. The other three joined as members and worked it out on the shelves, and each of their pages says plainly how long that took.
