When the doors are open

The studio week Class evenings run Monday through Thursday. Open studio is Friday evening and both weekend mornings.

Doors open 15 minutes before a session starts, and no earlier.

Money and dates

Four deadlines and four prices

Cancel before the 24th at 11:59 PM and the next month does not bill.

Pause before the 24th at 4:00 PM, which keeps your spot and your shelf.

Renewal runs on the 25th, so the two above are the day before it.

Pick up finished work within two weeks of the kiln being unloaded. After that it is forfeit.

What firing a piece costs

Glaze firing is priced by the space a piece takes up in the kiln, because space is what a kiln sells. Measure the box the piece would fit in, not the piece.

The measurement is the bounding box at its widest point, including handles and spouts. A tall skinny pot costs less than it looks.

The rules that bite

Six things that cost members work

Every one of these has cost somebody a finished piece, so we say them plainly rather than burying them in a policy page.

  • Work only gets fired if it is on the drop-off table, dry, and paid for. A finished piece on your own shelf stays there.
  • Fired work is forfeit two weeks after the kiln is unloaded. Set a reminder the week you glaze something.
  • Leave the bottom quarter inch of every piece bare, and use a glaze catcher on anything likely to run. A glaze that welds a pot to a shelf costs more than the pot.
  • Colored clay scrap never goes in the communal reclaim. The color never comes back out.
  • Alcohol inks and Pebeo paints are outside-table only. They are solvent based and they are never fired.
  • Dipping glazes and the slab rollers both need a certification first, which exists because getting either one wrong is expensive for everybody.
