Current members · Mid-month upgrade
Upgrade today. Use it today.
Pay the difference between your level and the one you want, and the rest of this month runs as though you’d been at the higher level the whole time.
Upgrades start at $25. Downgrades are a different conversation — see below.
How this works
You’re not buying the days that are left. You’re buying the month.
There’s no proration here, and that cuts in your favor far more often than against it. Pay the difference on the 14th and this month is simply a Purple month, all of it, backdated.
Your class count goes up right away
Not next month. This one. If you’re Green and already used all four classes, upgrading to Purple hands you two more to use before the month is out.
The studio opens the moment you pay
Glazes, tools, molds, wheels, clay discount. People do this from the middle of a class when they want a glaze one shelf above their level, and it works on the spot.
The one part that isn’t instant: your bigger shelf. Our membership manager assigns those in person and is usually in Monday through Thursday, so it can take a few days. Be patient with us — we’re normally quick. Nothing else waits on it. You can use every bit of your new level before the shelf moves.
The most asked question
Can I start using it before I get the new shelf?
Yes. That’s the whole point of paying mid-month rather than waiting. Here’s what changes when, in plain order.
Glazes, tools and molds
Immediately. Tell an instructor you’ve just upgraded and carry on with what you were making.
Your extra classes
Immediately, and for the whole month. Already used all of this month’s? You still get the extra ones your new level includes.
Your clay discount
Immediately. $2 off a bag at Yellow, $4 at Purple, $6 at Black — on the next bag you buy.
Your bigger shelf
Within a few days. Our membership manager assigns shelves in person, usually Monday to Thursday. Keep working off your current shelf until then.
You don’t need to tell us anything after you check out. The order lands with us, we move your level and change your recurring price on our side. One quirk we haven’t solved: your monthly email will still print your old level even though the price is right. Ignore it — we know you upgraded.

What opens in the glaze room
The honest proportions, out of the 650+ glazes on the wall.
Black is the only level that opens the black dot shelf, which holds the rarest and most expensive glazes in the building.
Your shelf, from above
Footprints drawn to one shared scale.
That’s 3.5 times the volume to store work in progress.
The honest arithmetic
What the extra classes actually cost you.
Moving up barely changes what a single class costs you. What it buys is a much bigger studio. Still worth seeing the number, because on some paths the extra classes alone pay for the move and on others they plainly don’t.
Two more classes a month at $27.50 each, against the $36.25 you're paying per class right now. Purple also has the lowest cost per class of any level we run. On the numbers alone this one is easy.
Cost per class assumes you use every class your level includes. Unused classes never expire while you’re a member, so they’re not lost either way. Clay and glaze firings are separate at every level.
Before you pay
The date matters more than anything else on this page.
Memberships bill on the 25th, and this upgrade is never prorated. Those two facts together decide whether buying today is smart or wasteful.
Worth saying out loud: late in the month you’re paying a full month’s difference for a handful of days. If it’s the 22nd and you only want the bigger shelf, waiting a week and texting us costs you nothing. If it’s the 22nd and you want to use a purple glaze in tonight’s class, buying now is exactly what this page is for. Both are reasonable. We’d rather you knew which one you were doing.
Everything else
The questions members actually text us.
Can I use my new level before my new shelf is assigned?
I have already used all my classes this month. Do I still get the extra ones?
Do I need to cancel my old membership or set up a new one?
Why does my monthly email still say my old level?
Can I go back down if I don’t use it?
I’m on a Heroes discount or a shared shelf pass. Is my price different?
Can I skip a level?
What if I want to upgrade starting next month instead?
The fine print
- There are no prorated amounts. The fee is the full monthly difference between your two levels no matter which day of the month you pay it.
- There are no refunds on an upgrade for any reason, and memberships cannot be downgraded mid-month.
- An upgrade fee received on the 25th or later is treated as an upgrade for the following month, because memberships renew on the 25th.
- You can upgrade as often as you like. Downgrades start the following month, are arranged with management, and level changes are capped at twice per calendar year on the downgrade side.
- Your recurring membership price is changed by us; nothing needs doing in the member portal. Your monthly email will continue to show your original level.
- Bigger shelves are assigned in person by our membership manager, who is usually in the studio Monday through Thursday. All other access begins the moment you pay.
- Clay and glaze firings are not included at any level. Clay starts at $28 for a 25 lb bag before your level discount; bisque firings are free and glaze firings run $0.05 per cubic inch with a $4.80 minimum.
- Attending more classes than your level allows means being charged the difference for that month and moved up the following month regardless. Upgrading first is the cheaper way to do it.
