The two kiln deadlines

Bisque by the 10th. Glaze by the 16th.

We set the same two dates every December, because Christmas does not move. Hit both and your pieces are out of the kilns and on the pick-up tables by the end of class on Wednesday, December 23.

Bisque firing

Thursday, December 10

Every piece you want finished goes on the bisqueware drop-off tables by the end of class at 10 PM.

It has to be completely bone dry. Damp clay can burst in a bisque kiln and take a classmate’s work down with it.

Glaze firing

Wednesday, December 16

Glazed work goes on the glazeware drop-off tables by the end of class at 10 PM.

Everything that makes it comes out of the glaze kiln by the end of class on Wednesday, December 23.

Beat them by a long shot

December is the busiest month the kilns have, and a rush can put us behind. Work that goes out a week or two early is work that never has to wait.

A plan, not a guarantee

The kilns run nearly nonstop all December, and we do everything we can to get every piece that makes the dates out in time. Kilns and electricity can still need a day, so the dates are our plan rather than a promise.

Late work still fires

Pieces put out after a deadline go in as soon as a load has room for them. They never jump ahead of the work that made the date.

Every pot stays where it was put

Moving someone else’s pottery to get yours into a load is never okay. We notice, and so do they.

Why the holidays close more

Our team gets the holidays too

November and December carry more closures than any other stretch of the year. That is on purpose. The people who run this studio spend the holidays with their families and the people they love, the same as you.

A closed day never costs you a class

Your classes never expire while you are a member. A closure moves a class to another day, it does not take it away. There are no refunds or pro-rating for holiday closures, and with no booking and no RSVP, switching nights costs nothing but a decision.
