2027 at The Clay Hole · Six free weeks

Six weeks a year, your friends come in free

Every other month, for one whole week, members can walk in with anybody who has never touched clay here, and it costs them nothing. No guest pass, no RSVP, no list at the front desk. Pick any class or open studio that week, send them the waiver, and bring as many people as you like.

One more before 2027

Classes run Monday 10:30 AM to 2 PM, Monday through Thursday 6:30 to 10 PM, open studio Friday 6:30 to 10 PM, and Saturday and Sunday 10 AM to 1:30 PM. Pick whichever one your friend can actually make.

Three steps, and one of them is fun

How a free week works

There is nothing to sign up for. That is the part people struggle to believe.

  1. Send them the waiver

Everybody who walks in signs one, guests included. It takes two minutes on a phone and it has to be done before they get here. Here is the link.

  2. Walk in together

No RSVP, no sign-up sheet, no text to us first. Pick any class or open studio inside that week, come the way you always do, and bring them with you.

  3. Teach them everything

You are their instructor for the night. You wedge their clay, show them where the sponges live, and talk them down when the pot goes sideways. It will go sideways.

The rules, all six of them

Brand new people only

One free visit per person, ever. If they have already been in this building, the Bring a Friend Pass is what they want instead.

They have to be 18

Eighteen and up, every free week, every year. No exceptions on this one.

Clay is the one thing they buy

They can grab their own bag, starting at $28, or you can split yours with them. Everything else in the building is covered.

Your tools become their tools

Whatever your Level opens up, they get to use for the night. Wheels included.

Bring as many as you want

One friend, four friends, a different one every night that week. There is no cap.

Go to a class on your own first

You cannot bring a guest to your own first class. Come once, learn where things live, then come back with your people.

Who to bring

Everybody already has a list

They have just never written it down. Tap who you are thinking of.

Who are you bringing?

Pick an answer on the left. Each one comes with the case for bringing them and the week that suits them best.

Read this part twice

What to know before you invite anybody

Free weeks are the best weeks we run. Here is all of it, before you send the first text.

You are the instructor

We are not assigning your guest a teacher for the night. You are it. Our staff will absolutely help, the way they help everybody, and the person responsible for your guest is you.

The night still counts as one of yours

Free means free for them. Your night comes off your monthly classes exactly the way it normally would, and bringing a guest never costs you an extra class.

One free visit, and that is it

Everyone gets one. After that they are a member or a guest on a paid pass, and both of those are good outcomes.

If they want to stay

Every free week there is a deal for guests that beats the new member deal on this website. It is good until midnight on the night they visit, and we tell them about it in person.

If they do not join, the pot is yours

A piece still has to dry, be bisqued, glazed and fired, and a guest cannot come back to do any of it. Decide before they sit down whether anything is going home.

Tell people what it was like

A stranger’s review is how most people find this place. If your guest had a good night, a Google review helps more than anything we could say.

Questions

Questions we get every single time

How many friends can I bring?

As many as you want, across as many nights of that week as you want. There is no cap and no per-night limit, just the number of beginners one person can reasonably look after.

Does bringing somebody cost me a class?

Your night counts as one of your classes, exactly like any other night. Bringing a guest does not add a charge or cost you an extra class.

Do I need to tell anybody they are coming?

No. No RSVP, no message to the studio, no name on a list. Sign the waiver, walk in together, and that is it.

Can they get on a wheel?

Yes. For that night your guest has access to whatever your Level gives you, wheels very much included. Plenty of first-timers do better hand building, so a table and a slab can make a better first night than a wheel.

What does it cost them?

The visit is free. Clay is the one thing that is not: a bag starts at $28, or you can hand them a chunk of yours. If they make something they want to keep, firing works the same as it does for you.

Can somebody come to more than one free week?

One free visit per person, ever. After that they join, or they come back on a Bring a Friend Pass, which runs all year.

Can I bring somebody if I just joined?

Go to one class on your own first. Teaching somebody where the sponges live works a lot better once you know where the sponges live.

Pick one person

Text them tonight

The week is only seven days long, and everybody who waits until Saturday ends up bringing nobody. Send the waiver now and the rest is easy.

Every rule, the invitation text we wrote for you and the answers for the person you invite live on the free week page. Every event of the year lives on our 2027 events page.
