I know, I know... Tell you I have ADHD without telling you I have ADHD.

For better or worse, chasing my passions is the only thing that makes any sense to me at all...

Some of you have been following along my journey since 2010, when my blog Single Dad Laughing first took off.

I've lived one helluva life, always chasing the next big accomplishment. But nothing means more to me than humans. For example...

My kid. Most epic kid in the world. He's grown now, but damn was it an honor to raise that one.

My partner, Adri. The most giving, wonderful, loving, funny, caring human I've ever given my heart to.

My friends. God, we have so many fun shenanigans.

My studio members. Hundreds of them.

My followers. Millions of them.

Good, bad, happy, sad... Humans, and all the experiences that come with them, are my favorite ongoing endeavor.

Below you'll find links to some parts of my life and journey I'm still happy to share. If you're in Utah, though, in-person is where it's at. Come be part of The Clay Hole. That's my latest, greatest, grandest adventure yet.

Remember my blog? Read my greatest hits

Single Dad Laughing

Est. 2010

Once upon a time I wrote one of the most popular blogs in the world.

Remember when people used to read blogs? Seems like a lifetime ago. For a lot of years, I had the #2 personal blog in the world. Never could catch up to Pioneer Woman!

The blog was about being a dad, yes, but really it was about all of life. Adventures in love & dating, figuring out my shit, finding my authentic path, and ridiculous collaborations with my followers. We had a lot of fun in those days.

Anyways, 3 million published words and ten years after I started it, I shut down my Single Dad Laughing servers and moved a few of the fan favorites over to Blogger to rest in peace forever.

I also wrote a few blog posts when I retired it and a few since. You can find all that here:

The All-Important, Well-Fed, Giant White Man

Written by me (Dan Pearce), First edition pub. 2015

This is my first memoir and what I like to call, "way too much information." When I sat down to write this book, I wanted the reader to end with this giant, ooooh, that's what this was really all about moment. Only you can decide if I pulled that off.

Paperback (Amazon)

Hardcover (Amazon)

Audiobook (Audible)

Kindle Edition (Amazon)

Synopsis (Back Cover)

Brought to you by the author of the widely-acclaimed Single Dad Laughing and Dan Pearce Knows Nothing blogs, The All-Important, Well-Fed, Giant White Man will make you laugh as often as it makes you squirm (in all the right ways) as Dan shares his sidesplitting life stories, moments of incredible stupidity, colossal mistakes, and the awesome (albeit sometimes strange) lessons learned through it all.

This engaging collection of narratives shines a light on some of the most difficult and most liberating dynamics of the human experience. Dan recounts awkward childhood love, getting his bare butt glued to a log in the woods, setting his family’s house afire, ungloriously handling his first set of knockers, being ratted out by his child, moments of douchey self-importance, and many other fantastic stories which will keep you listening on with wild abandon.

Odd religious mandates, betrayal, childhood bullying, a struggle to feel lovable, morbid obesity, self-harm, family and societal pressure, relationship struggles, compulsive dishonesty, dealing with infidelity…all of it led, and often in such comical ways, toward getting healthy and eventually accepting and loving himself as the overly ridiculous, always-faulted, usually-laughing, human he is.

The Real Dad Rules

Written by me (Dan Pearce), First edition pub. 2011

This was the first book I ever published, and still one of my favorites. If you don't know, my son was adopted (at birth). This was the list of rules I sat down and wrote for myself when he was born to make sure I was always his "real dad."

Paperback (Amazon)

Kindle Edition (Amazon)

Synopsis (Back Cover)

What is the difference between a dad and a real dad? A big one! Dan Pearce, author of the world's most popular dad blog (Single Dad Laughing), discusses the path that real dads take, the personal strength every father has, and the poignant realities of fatherhood.

Pearce shares his own story of unexpectedly becoming a single dad (for the second time), as well as his own list of "Real Dad Rules" which he wrote to make sure that while he was going through his toughest moments, single fatherhood never turned into bad fatherhood.

The Real Dad Rules is full of simple, powerful, and effective parenting discussion that can be read cover to cover or pulled off the shelf for that occasional burst of motivation when it's needed most. From a real dad's healthy touch, to powerful labeling, to the way a man treats the women in his life, this book covers it in a way that makes sense.

Every child deserves a real dad. And every dad has the power and ability to be one. It just takes dedication, hard work, the occasional bout of humility, practice, a lot of laughing, and time.

It doesn't matter where a dad starts in his journey. It doesn't matter what kind of past he has had or what mistakes have been made along the way. It doesn't matter what he is struggling with most. What matters is that he starts. What matters is that he is working on it. What matters is that he gives it his all.

The Real Dad Rules is a must read by every father, no matter how far along he is in his own parenting journey. With special bonus chapters dedicated to single dads and stepdads, every father will find extremely useful and logical tools that he can use all along the way.Being a dad should be exciting. It should be fun. It should keep you on your toes. And, it should be the most fulfilling of all life's accomplishments. Real dads do it all, and they have a blast while they do.

Read my Kind-of Secret Novel

He Who Cannot Die (Book One)

Written by me (Dan Pearce), First edition pub. 2019

Just before I retired my blog, I very quietly self-published this novel. I never really told anyone about it. I never really shared it. A few people have read it and it seems they enjoyed it. At the end of the day, this book was so intensely personal that I felt like the quiet way was the way I wanted to go.

Kindle Edition (Amazon)

Synopsis (Back Cover)

According to stories passed down in holy writings, Cain was mankind’s first murderer. Characterized with a jealous rage in which he killed his own brother, Cain was said to be cursed to wander an inhospitable Earth, unable to die.

Murder doesn't just happen, though, and stories get twisted as they are handed down through time. Cain wasn't actually the first to kill another.

He was, however, the first human to truly love another in a brutal and reptilian world where men shared their women and companionship was nothing more than a means to survival.

After slaying his brother to protect the woman that he loved, Cain was tried and marked by the famous witch Tashibag. She placed a curse on him to never die and to lose any woman that he would ever come to love once a certain amount of time had passed. Cain would learn very quickly that love could not be avoided forever, that the curse was real, and that attempting to break it would always lead to grim consequences that could not be undone.

It is now modern-day, and Cain has only days to finally figure out how to break his curse before he must suffer the heartache of losing yet another woman that he loves. With the clock against him, he tells the story of what existence has been for him so far, while he leaves on an undertaking to finally find the witch who has eluded him since the beginning.

The Poker Stop-It List: The First Big Book of Poker Mistakes

Written by me (Dan Pearce), First edition pub. 2022

I played a lot of bad, losing poker for a while, then I learned how to dominate the game. This was the book I wrote as my farewell gift to the poker world once I decided to leave playing it professionally behind.

Synopsis (Back Cover)

The Poker Stop-It List wasn't written by a mega pro. It was written by a fellow human who just loves (and now crushes) the game. I’m an established author. I created a blog followed by millions, as well as various books.

Over the years, my followers never knew that I had a secret life playing poker. I wrote about parenting, relationships, life, introspective topics, and shared lots of opinions and stories. My gift has always been putting complex concepts and human dynamics into words that others connect with and understand. So, why not do it with poker, too?

Many years ago, the nickname my opponents gave me was “Donkey Dan". I rightfully earned it. I was so bad at the game. I gave away endless money playing hyper-aggressively and having way too much fun.

But...

Losing hurts, especially when you lose repeatedly. I wanted to be a player who didn’t just start to win. I wanted to crush the game, and I dedicated myself to doing so. It took a few years, and a lot of study and self-reflection, but I finally did.

I must have read more than 50 poker books in those days, and in the end...I felt there was one very important book missing. You see, it did not matter how much I learned about the game, I was still somehow a losing player. It was only when I stopped focusing on the things I should do, and started focusing on the things I shouldn’t do, that my game really took off.

That’s what this audiobook is. It’s the audiobook I wish I would have had when I was first studying poker. I would have become a winning player exponentially faster.

Simply put, this audiobook lists the things you need to stop doing. Immediately. Doing that (and understanding why), have the power to take your game to a consistently winning level.

Poker is the hardest game in the world. I believe I was able to put poker concepts (and the human dynamics that go with it) into words that are so much easier to grasp. From one human to another, I hope this audiobook does incredible things for you and your game. Now, go and crush it.

Synopsis (Back Cover)

Being a kid isn't always easy, and most kids don't have a lot of control over what happens in their day-to-day lives. That's just part of being a kid.

But... What if the room didn't *always* have to be cleaned? What if bedtime didn't *always* have to be at a certain time? What if making a mistake didn't *always* lead to getting into trouble?

What if your kids had access to coupons they could hand to you that allowed them to be just a little more human and to have just a little more control over their own lives in fun and limited ways?

"Awesome Kid Coupons" offers your children just that, featuring its 18 different kid coupons that your child can use in the moments *they* choose to use them.

Each coupon has a fun and unique illustration (by Dan Pearce) that your kids can color before being able to use the coupon. This keeps 'em busy, but also gives you fun keepsakes as their parent or guardian.

Coupons included:

(x2) Get out of trouble free

(x1) No chores for the day

(x2) An extra hour before bedtime

(x1) Leave your room messy for _____ days

(x1) Choose what we make for dinner

(x1) Double your allowance

(x1) A trip to eat at your favorite restaurant

(x1) Invite a friend over to play

(x1) A trip to ______

In the back of the book, your child will also get three different drawing challenges, so that they can push their drawing skills in new and fun ways.

Note from the Author/Illustrator (Dan Pearce):

"I originally made a very similar coupon book for my son one Christmas when money was tight and I didn't have much for big or expensive gifts. I spent weeks drawing fun illustrations and coming up with coupons my child could use any time he wanted over the next year. He LOVED the finished project, and now the number one thing he always puts on his list every year is: 'more coupons!'

As parents, we often forget that this human experience we all go through isn't always the easiest thing for our kids to navigate, either. These coupons are an amazing way to not only let your kid be amazingly human, but also to remind you (as a parent) that sometimes it's okay to give a little and not make rules or routines that never have exceptions. This, in turn, will help your kids be more supportive of the rules and routines that you do have to make as the awesome parent that you are."

"Awesome Kid Coupons" features pre-filled coupons that have universal kid struggles/topics. Be sure to checkout the blank version of this book if you'd like to fill in all your own coupons with whatever you like, or to base the coupons on the needs of your specific children.
