Draper sits on the corridor, right off I-15, which for most of the tech corridor is a short drive rather than an expedition. That is most of why this works as a weeknight thing at all.
A room where nobody knows your job title unless you tell them.
The short version. The Clay Hole is at 12896 S Pony Express Rd in Draper, just off I-15. Plan on driving. Draper has a FrontRunner station and a TRAX Blue Line station, but neither one lands you at the door, so a rideshare finishes the trip if you come in by train.
Mean commute times across the surrounding cities run roughly 23 to 27 minutes, so for most of the corridor this is a normal weeknight rather than an expedition.
The case for a third place

We are not going to tell you a sad story about loneliness to sell a membership. But the data on this specific place is worth seeing, because it explains something a lot of our members describe independently.

What members describe, over and over, is not that they had no friends. It is that every room they were in was a work room, and that the ones that were not required either a child, a church or a gym. A studio is a fourth option, and it is open seven a week.
One thing we checked and will not say
There is no data on the version of this story you have heard.
There is a common claim that moving to Utah is socially harder if you are not a member of the dominant local faith. We went looking for research on it, because if it were true it would be relevant to what a secular third place is worth here.
There is no study, no survey and no serious reporting on it that we could find. Only forum threads and personal essays. So we are not going to assert it, in either direction. What we can say is what the numbers above say, and what people actually tell us on the studio floor.
Getting here
From the corridor, practically.
- From Lehi, Alpine, Highland and American Fork. Straight up I-15. FrontRunner reaches Draper station, but you will want a rideshare for the last stretch.
- From Salt Lake City. I-15 south against the evening flow. TRAX Blue Line reaches Draper, with the same last stretch to cover.
- From Sandy, South Jordan, Riverton, Herriman and Bluffdale. Ten to twenty minutes on surface roads.
- From Provo and Orem. About half an hour up the interstate.
- Parking. Free, on site, and there is always some.
The actual pitch
Three hours a week where nobody is evaluating you.
Not your output, not your velocity, not your last review. Whether the wall stayed even. That is the entire scope of what anybody in the room is judging, and most of them are too busy failing at their own to look.
