Struggling with Loneliness in Utah? Try Pottery

If you’re feeling lonely in Utah, you’re not alone. A growing number of adults—especially those no longer tied to school, church, or traditional social structures—find themselves asking, “Where do I even meet people anymore?”

At The Clay Hole in Draper, we’ve seen firsthand how pottery changes that. Our weekly classes have helped hundreds of adults connect—not just casually, but meaningfully. Because here, friendships aren’t forced. They’re formed slowly, side-by-side, through clay.

Loneliness Is an Epidemic—But There’s a Way Out

In 2023, the U.S. Surgeon General called loneliness a national public health crisis. It’s linked to anxiety, depression, poor sleep, and even heart disease. But the antidote isn’t scrolling or self-isolating—it’s connection. Real, in-person, repeated connection.

According to the Mayo Clinic, deep friendships improve emotional health and resilience—but they take time. Pottery gives you that time in a creative, welcoming space.

Pottery: A Consistent, Comfortable Way to Connect

Unlike noisy bars, awkward networking events, or short-lived one-offs, pottery gives you a consistent way to see the same faces week after week. You connect while your hands are busy. You talk when it feels right. You build something—with clay and with people.

  • Classes are held weekly—same time, same group
  • Socializing is natural, never forced
  • Side-by-side interaction makes it easier for shy or anxious adults
  • Friendships form quietly and deeply over time

Not at all. Most of our members come solo—and many of them start just like you. You’ll never be pressured to talk or perform. Just create. Connection follows.

No. Firings and clay are billed separately so you only pay for what you use. It’s simple, flexible, and fair.
