Pottery Classes for Ex-Mormons Seeking New Community

Leaving the Church often means leaving behind your entire social structure. It can feel like stepping into the unknown—lonely, isolating, and disorienting. But it can also be a chance to rebuild your community in ways that feel more authentic and free.

At The Clay Hole, we’ve become a soft landing place for ex-Mormons all over Utah who are looking for connection, creativity, and friendships that aren’t based on belief—but on being present, real, and human together.

You’re Not the Only One

Tens of thousands of Utahns have left the LDS Church in recent years. Many are searching for a place to belong again—a group of people who get it. According to a 2025 Salt Lake Tribune article, many who disaffiliate do so seeking alignment with their evolving values—and later seek new sources of community and identity.

The Clay Hole is one of those spaces. Here, you’ll find former Relief Society presidents and returned missionaries sitting side by side with never-Mormons—creating, laughing, healing, and forming friendships from the ground up.

A Safe, Nonjudgmental Studio

No one here will ask you why you left. No one will try to convert you back. This is a place of respect and release—a studio where you can just show up, get your hands dirty, and remember what it feels like to be accepted for exactly who you are.

  • No religion, no judgment—just clay and community
  • Side-by-side friendships that grow slowly and naturally
  • A space where it’s safe to be yourself again
  • A weekly ritual that replaces what you lost

Your New Weekly Ritual

Our monthly membership includes one 3.5-hour class per week. That consistency matters. It’s how you start to heal. It’s how real friendships are built. It’s how something new begins to take root.

  • Monday Morning: 10:30 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Monday–Friday Evenings: 6:30 PM – 10:00 PM

You’ll be amazed what can happen when you work with your hands and show up weekly alongside kind, curious, open-hearted people.

FAQ

Is this studio mostly for ex-Mormons?
Not exclusively, but many of our members are post-Mormon or non-religious. What they have in common is kindness, openness, and the desire to find genuine friendship.

Is clay or firing included?
Nope! Those are billed separately, so you only pay for what you use. That way, things stay flexible and fair.
