Not Everyone Finds Their People at Church. Pottery Might Be the Answer.

In Utah, a lot of social connection happens through church. And for some people, that’s a beautiful thing. But if that hasn't been your experience—if you’ve felt out of place, overlooked, or unsure where else to turn—you’re not alone.

At The Clay Hole in Draper, we’ve created a different kind of community—one that doesn’t require belief, background, or membership to belong. Just show up, get your hands in some clay, and let connection happen naturally over time.

A New Kind of Community for Utah Adults

If you're spiritual-but-not-religious, ex-Mormon, agnostic, or simply not active in a faith community, it can be hard to find your circle in Utah. That’s why we built this studio—to be a welcoming, art-centered place for people who don’t feel at home in traditional spaces.

  • No belief systems or expectations—just creativity and kindness
  • See the same people each week and build connection over time
  • Safe space for LGBTQ+ folks, neurodivergent adults, and anyone who feels like an outsider

What You’ll Find at The Clay Hole

  • Weekly membership-based classes for adults (no drop-ins)
  • Friday night is singles-only, but every class is social and inclusive
  • 10,000 sq. ft. studio space with lounge areas, snacks, drinks, and game zones
  • Access to 500+ glazes, 100+ underglazes, and thousands of tools
  • Led by four instructors—plus Dan Pearce, who’s at every class

We’ve seen real friendships bloom here—between people who had almost given up on finding “their people.” You don’t have to be anything other than yourself. That’s enough here.
