ADHD & Mindfulness: From Scattered to Centered with Clay
Meditation apps, breathing exercises, yoga flows—they're all great... for someone else. If you’re an adult with ADHD in Utah, traditional mindfulness can feel impossible. That’s where pottery comes in. At The Clay Hole in Draper, our hands-on pottery classes offer a path from scattered thoughts to centered presence—without forcing focus or stillness.
This is mindfulness for ADHD brains: physical, engaging, calming, and real.
Pottery as a Somatic, Meditative Practice
According to ADDitude Magazine, mindfulness is highly beneficial for adults with ADHD—but hard to access through conventional methods. Pottery bridges that gap by offering a fully embodied experience that naturally quiets the mind.
- The feel of clay grounds you in the moment
- Repetitive motion of throwing centers your thoughts
- Time slows down as your hands and focus align
- You leave with a sense of accomplishment and peace
This is what many call “moving meditation.” And it works because it doesn't ask your brain to shut off—it just gives it something gentle to hold.
The Rhythm of Routine Without Rigidity
Our monthly pottery membership includes one 3.5-hour class per week. That consistency becomes its own mindfulness anchor—something you can count on when everything else feels chaotic.
- Monday Morning: 10:30 AM – 2:00 PM
- Monday–Friday Evenings: 6:30 PM – 10:00 PM
No need to sit cross-legged or silence your thoughts. Just show up, sit down at the wheel, and let your body guide your focus.

FAQ
I’ve never been able to meditate. Will this actually help?
Yes. Pottery is a form of mindfulness that doesn’t feel like meditation. It grounds you without asking you to clear your mind—just to stay with the clay.
Is clay or firing included in the membership?
Nope! You only pay for the clay and firings you actually use, so your mindfulness practice stays affordable and personal.
