Glaze Rules & Test Tile Reminders

Before you glaze anything at The Clay Hole, please read this!

We love glazes here. Like… really love them. But to keep our kilns (and your pots) safe, we have a few firm glaze rules in place. Please read the poster above carefully—it’s displayed in the glaze area for a reason. If you’re not sure whether your piece follows the rules, just ask an instructor. We’re happy to help.

You’ll also see our test tile shelf growing fast! This is where we test every glaze combo so you can preview what each glaze does on different clays and textures.

If you’ve made a test tile for us, thank you! We fire these often and label them carefully so our entire community can benefit. Feel free to browse them next time you’re planning your next great glaze moment.

Between the glaze wall, the test tiles, and a little bit of curiosity, you’re going to create magic. Just follow the rules—and then let the fun begin.
